Nederweert has recently gained a nature burial ground and crematorium — Hoeve de Zwingel, located on the edge of the Weerterbos woodland. The crematorium’s design resembles a traditional Limburg farmstead and offers seating for up to 500 guests in its ceremonial hall. There are also six additional rooms available for occasions such as evening wakes.

The aim was to create a sustainable project, which is why an electric cremation oven from Crematech was chosen. Heat generated by the oven is used to further reduce the building’s energy consumption, and solar panels have also been installed. Thousands of trees and shrubs have been planted around the crematorium and across the nature burial ground.
